Silicone wedding rings- bands

EDC hello youtube this is EDC Jesse and

today I've got an unboxing video for some silicone wedding rings and I have a special assistant with me whose name is b-dawg another youtuber and he is going to unbox this with his pocketknife so get to it meet up and remember being

careful not to cut yourself or does a nice table and this comes from China shipped for free three dollars for three wedding ring silicone and so I got an internal package nothing else in there I maybe turned it over and you can

a little pouch that's nice say smart do make outdoor and sports simpler gray gray silver and they have smart do written inside I guess you can see that on the inside so these are silicone rings smart do and that's a

size 9 I measured my existing wedding ring with just a ruler just to see what size it was I couldn't remember except worn it for so long so it comes with a nice little suede pouch drawstring that's a nice little touch didn't expect

that you can keep your rings nice and lint-free that way so it's won't do the moment of truth we'll see they seem like they're pretty decent quality what do you think be Doug glad they don't have any like sort of obvious molding lines

or anything like yeah try this we're gonna try the gray first according to be Doug and there you go it's not too loose it's a little bit large compared to what I thought it was gonna be but I guess that's better than too small

because they say that they'll sweat if they're too small that's what got blue and well she outfits on someone like me no too small too big for kids so why would you want a ring like this well basically it's for safety reasons or for

security reasons so if you're traveling in an area like a country that you think you might get robbed you would not want to lose your precious golden wedding ring that has sentimental value but more more realistically its if your state

doing something like exercise exercise yard work wrestling crocodiles something like that and as you can see it fits nicely it's flexible and the idea is that it won't get caught on something and tear your

finger off or the skin off or if your finger gets crushed playing sports or doing some manual labor that in your finger swells you can just pull this off because it's rubber or cut it off with your pocketknife so I say that's set I'm

pretty impressed with the quality what do you think be duck they look good it's no nice and squishy yeah you can match them to your outfit if you get these three colors so this was a three color pack and they come in different sizes

and it was $3 shipped and tax included and I'm looking forward to wearing the black one in particular with my black watch so obviously you can match it to that kind of a look match it to your up and the blue actually goes all around

with the two because there's there's a little bit of blue on the Casio f91 W so if I was wearing this in a sort of rough neighborhood or a rough country then I wouldn't have to worry about my precious golden wedding ring getting stolen so

we're gonna break now and I'm gonna wear one of these for a week and then come back and give you my thoughts on how practical they are how they fit and how they are holding up after a weeks use so that's it for this segment

this is EDC Jesse and beyond and we'll catch you after a week okay folks we're back with the the one week update on the silicone rubber rings purchased on eBay again I'll put the link down below where I purchase these

these are the smart do rings and uh I guess I've got sort of mixed mixed feelings about them after wearing them for a week I guess I'd say that they're worth trying for three bucks I mean you're paying a dollar each and that's

tax and shipping included but I can't see myself you know converting to these I liked wearing the black one in particular with this Casio watch and pairing it with a nice little slip joint this is a Portuguese brand I sell or you

sell as you can see you've got the black watch the black knife and the black ring I mean especially men or not you know we tend not to get too concerned about matching our accessories but it still it's kind of nice to be able to you know

if I've got my blue watch on I put on the blue ring but I'm wearing a grey shirt I can wear the grave and etc I mean you got three colors why not but here are some general impressions first of all the rings that I bought are a

size 9 which is the same as mine my my wedding band but the wedding bands just fits a little bit snugger so what does that mean it means basically that the ring as I was wearing it was just a little a hair too

large now some of the reviews I saw on YouTube recommend that you buy it a size larger than you think you need because otherwise no air circulates underneath and even with this even with this ring being just a slight bit oversized as you

can see there's some space in there I still notice that it was a bit sort of sweaty under the band and so it's sort of you're damned if you do damned if you don't so if you buy a ring that's that's really snug on your finger like on my

other ring finger my ring finger on my right hand that is it fits more snugly and that feels more comfortable but then it's more sweaty and no air circulates underneath and you've got a piece of rubber on there so that's more

comfortable to wear in terms of fit but it's less comfortable in terms of the sweating factor and especially since you know I'm used to a wedding band that's open as you can see air circulates nicely

through there so what do you do then I like the look of them and I like the fact that they are squishy but I didn't like the fact that this rubber is grippy so if you are you know reaching into your pocket in particular pulling out

your keys or your phone it will catch and the fact that it's just slightly oversized this one on me meant that it would catch a little bit on the pocket as I was reaching in so ultimately I'm not quite sure I can recommend that you

buy these for three dollars it might be worth rolling the dice I mean if you're gonna wear them to go to the gym for an hour or two then the sweating factor is not going to be an issue but to wear it all day long particularly most people

who'll be wearing this would be some kind of laborers so you're gonna be working hard sweating all day long and it's going to cause perspiration underneath so you know if you're gonna wear it for your martial arts class or

your you know your gym session or whatever the case might be I mean yeah maybe for a short term use that's a good idea but then again you know your experience may vary I'm wearing this in the in early fall a late fall actually

in Canada so the weather is cold I'm wearing gloves I'm not sweating a whole lot in my hands and I work in an office setting so again I'm not using sweating profusely in the hot Summer Sun I could see this being a problem sweat wise so

you know you can you can try it out for three dollars I wouldn't buy one of those ones that's $20 or $30 for a single ring until you try this for three I'm getting three I like the color options I like the the fit and finish on

these the fit and finish is great there's no noticeable seams I mean the it's a basic rubber band basically but even that that you can see close up the fit and finish is pretty good but overall I'm not entirely convinced on

these I think that as far as having a ring that you don't have to worry about losing or about about somebody stealing it from you like so you go to a dangerous location you're afraid you might get robbed I might just

go with some kind of a cheap stainless steel ring look I ordered a tungsten ring tungsten carbide from Amazon for three bucks and so once that comes in I'll show you guys what I think of that but that might be the better option than

these rubber ones although I do like the color options so that's my general review of these silicone rings I hope you found that interesting and I will catch you on the next one this is EDC Jesse and I'm out

Finger Tip avulsion

in this video I'd like to demonstrate a simple technique for management of fingertip of vull shin injuries these are a common injury that we all see in the emergency department usually a person who slices the tip of their thumb or another finger while they're slicing

vegetables what we often see is that no matter how much direct pressure you hold on these injuries they just keep bleeding and this is a real nuisance which is why the patient comes to see us in the ED here's a simple technique that

you can employ in the emergency department to manage these injuries firstly what you're going to do is place a tourniquet at the base of the affected digit in order to stop further active bleeding make sure it's nice and snug

then instruct the patient to elevate that limb at least above the level of their heart the next thing you'll do is blot away the existing bleeding and then use your fingers to manually milk that digit and exsanguinated you want to now

observe the wound for several minutes to ensure that there's complete hemostasis and no further bleeding from that wound once you're sure that's the case you can proceed to the next step which is the application of a layer of tissue

adhesive glue to act as a sealant over that avulsion injury you can go ahead and dab away extra glue around the wound edges and ultimately you're going to apply about three to four layers of adhesive glue over the wound once that

glue is completely dried and only once it's completely dried you'll go ahead and remove the tourniquet what you end up with is this scab leg wound over the avulsion with no further active bleeding like any layer of tissue adhesive glue

it will fall off in approximately a week and you'll end up with this nice clean scab with no further bleeding from the wound site I'd like to summarize with some key points for the success of this procedure firstly this procedure is for

use with superficial minor wounds only this is not something to use if you've got an amputated digit if you've got exposed bone or if you have a large pumping blood vessel secondly complete hemostasis is required before you apply

that glue that's why elevation of the limb and tourniquet application is so important for success to the technique finally make sure to instruct that patient not to put on any ointment lotions or excessively wet the

glue which should cause it to slough off prematurely and lead to failure of hemostasis

Ring avulsion injuries and safety

Most people don't realize how many severe injuries are caused by rings ring avulsion is extremely common and has an estimated 150,000 incidents in the United States

each year in addition there are a large number of other injuries to the hand caused for example by car accidents or on-the-job injuries that require immediate ring removal to restore blood flow to a finger or for an emergency

surgery time is critical and lost minutes or even seconds can cause irreparable harm including loss of a finger most contemporary metal rings are difficult to remove safely rings made of standard cobalt chromium require

specialized cutting equipment such as dental saws drills or diamond tip sauce these techniques can take up to 30 minutes to divide the ring can severely burn the underlying skin require an assistant to provide irrigation and are

not available in many hospitals and emergency rooms in cases of ring avulsion irrigation is not a recommended procedure so rings made of tungsten carbide complicate the situation due to the risk of fragments being injected

into the area of trauma if not dealt with promptly constriction from a ring can cut off the blood supply and the tissue can die in some cases a patient may even lose a finger rings made from serene iam can be quickly easily and

safely removed with commonly available tools such as vice grip pliers or ring crackers the minutes and seconds saved removing a syringe ring can make all the difference in an emergency keep yourself and your loved one safe by choosing

Volar plate avulsion by DR Watson

probably the most common fracture in man is a bowler plate of ulsan fracture we've all got eight fingers hyperextension injuries are for everybody at some time in their life at some point and the bowler plate always that's not something we can say in

medicine often tears loose from the base of the middle phalanx and it tears loose with or without a small fragment of bone we don't see the great majority of these injuries so that we don't have any idea how many little fractures of the volar

plate occur but one would have to assume that it's probably the most common fracture in man they create a problem for the joint if this is the attachment of the bowler plate which runs down the front it's a thick structure that

doesn't Bend and it slides up and down on the front of the joint and we notice that when we flex the joint down the bowler plate slides down the front of the proximal phalanx so that 100% of the rotation that occurs in the structures

between this middle phalanx and the proximal phalanx occurs right there right where the rover plate attaches it attaches via a sharpie fibers into the base of the bone roll early and when the finger flexes the bowler plate slides

and doesn't Bend the proximal phalanx does its rotation that means all of the rotation takes place right there that requires a highly specialized attachment which is fine and narrow and when this gets ruptured with or without

the little piece of bone it can tear off a little piece of bone or just tear loose and then it heals back on and when it does not unusually you'll have a situation where let's put it in flexion where the bowler plate is healed back on

in a sort of broad attachment of tissue and scar and this does not have the flexibility of the highly localized boilerplate attachment to the volar aspect of the bone and this big ghulami area won't let

the voter plate rotate at this point so it tries to bend and that produces the symptoms as the voter plate has to be forced into flexion which it won't do it wants to sit straight and go up and down and what we do with these is you treat

the initial injury with a splint for two to three weeks and two to three weeks to take it off and let him use it and then we'll leave it alone and watch it for about six months and most of these don't require anything further as as we said

before they they often are not even picked up or seen by a physician they're just a hyper-extended injury the coach pulls the finger snap get back in the game and nobody ever sees it but if it's six months this is still a painful

finger which will have what we call it positive boilerplate tests passive flexion of the middle joint will be painful significantly painful they also often will not flex and if they don't go beyond 90 degrees and they are painful

we will do the following procedure we go in and roll back the bowler plate off its attachment to the base of the middle phalanx so that's the middle phalanx that's the proximal phalanx behind and we'll just detach the bowler plate

across then create a small cancellous groove across the base of the proximal of the middle phalanx notice that we leave the assembly line attachment intact on this side and what that lets you do is mobilize this finger totally

in 48 hours we don't have to wait for a pullout wire or a bony attachment of any structural sort the assembly line is intact on the on the opposite side from which we open it we usually try and choose the side where there's an injury

to the collateral ligament as the side with which to peel the bowler plate back make a small can sell a screw we'll take this and put it back up here and put one little stitch into the assembly line putting the rollerplate back in position

but that is not a stitch that's responsible for maintaining the voter plate from ripping loose that is accomplished by having left the attachment on the assembly line on the opposite side and we take and dress

these and 48 hours later allow full mobilization and that full mobilization on this structure in line with this cancellous groove across the base of the middle phalanx will reestablish an adequate sophisticated structure which

will allow rotation to occur at the proper place at that highly specialized detachment and let the volar plate remain collinear with the proximal phalanx and re-establish a painless finger in a very simple fashion

you

Avulsion fracture- ring avulsion injury post surgery

show you why I kind of mound action for a little bit about three weeks ago I was coming back from practice what you preach and I was loading up some equipment on a folding cart and the it's a type of game cart used for hunting and

I was throw him back back the stuff when I use it all around and the cart collapsed on my finger so I had to go in for some surgery get a pin put in but get ready to take off the bandage just to inspect it for today and then want to

put a fresh dressing on it I thought I'd show you the injury itself and if you've been following on Facebook you've actually seen the pictures of when I went to the ER for the first time and solve the stitches and stuff so I'm not

going to go any farther than that you can see the pin sticking out you got a little bit farther now I've got steri-strips on there still but let's see if I can't demonstrate what happened doula

yeah the old elementary school trick of tracing your hand when the cart collapsed my finger looked like this the nail sticking out and piece of bone protruding with a finger so I put it back together cut through about 3/4 of

the way but in the emergency room they kind of pulled traction to reset the bone got seven stitches all the way around to here there's only about that much flesh left holding it back on it didn't cut through the tendons or

ligaments so I got lucky with that but you know I just had to go through surgery and they ended up putting inserting a pin and if you look at the bone structure this is a piece that broke

and this is the next digit they put the pin going all the way through to there so we're looking at probably about four to six weeks to heal hopefully we'll take any longer that I've already had to cancel two events and I'm hoping that it

won't have to cancel next one might just have to postpone like I'm supposed to go to the Amazon 5,000 with Mickey Grossman down to Ecuador for three weeks but we'll see what happens hopefully this will heal if it doesn't in time you know

I'm going to have to be using on my Shetty down there we'll see anyway home I'll follow up with another video showing the cart and how it actually scissored the finger and thanks for tuning it be safe out there and enjoy

Jimmy fallon's finger escaped amputation after ring avulsion thanks to Bellevue doctors

celebrity comedian, Jimmy Fallon's finger should have been amputated but somehow he survived a ring of all Jean comedian Jimmy Fallon has returned to hosting the Tonight Show and offered a graphic explanation for his recent ten days, tend to Bellevue hospitals ICU on jun 26

pounds slipped on a rug and his home and tried to grab a countertop with his left hand to break his fall seconds later overfell was shocked to see his bloody ring finger completely bent like a pretzel pollen assume he's broken his

finger and grabbed a cab and hopped over the emergency room but doctors that are much more disturbing diagnosis ring of bullshit a vu l as iong wiii tell you not to google up you're gonna do it anyways to go ahead yikes right when a

ring gets caught on something it can carve its way into your finger tearing through flesh right down to the bone Jimmy Fallon hadn't broken his finger but he basically ripped it off oh and by the way the most common treatment for

ringer balls and is amputation luckily for Fallon doctor specializing in microsurgery spend six hours and a successful attempt two stitches digit back together again so Jimmy gets to keep his finger hooray for Jimmy's

finger and seriously congratulations man but ring avulsion has given us some serious ring revulsion these things are death traps is that wedding ring from your third marriage really worth losing your finger over hashtag wedding rings

Jimmy Fallon; how to prevent ring avulsion

do you know what this is if you guessed

wedding ring you're wrong it's an F ad a finger amputation device it's made of tungsten carbide it's lightweight it's sexy and it's indestructible oh yeah and it's guaranteed to tear your finger off if it gets caught on something in all

seriousness though this is actually true it happened to Jimmy Fallon a few weeks ago his accident is called ring avulsion warning don't do a google search for this unless you have a barf bag handy or your stomach is made of steel it's

definitely not for the faint of heart but tragically ring of origin happens way more than you probably realize there are over a hundred and fifty thousand accidents of bringing of holes in the US per year alone many of which lead to

amputation and that's what this Kickstarter is all about it's time for an update to the traditional wedding ring it's time for a ring that doesn't get in the way of your lifestyle it's time for a ring that you actually want

to wear for sports for work for fun you name it and when it matters most when a potential ring of origin accident is involved your ring should protect your finger and not tear it off and that's why we've created the enso ring it's the

most functional wedding ring on the planet it's durable ultra-thin and when it matters most the ring actually tears away instead of tearing your finger it's durable it has an ultra-thin ultralight profile and most of the time

you'll probably forget it's even on its non-conductive which is perfect for guys that make a living working with their hands the typo allergenic which is perfect for people with sensitive skin or skin allergies the silicone ring is the

most functional wedding band on the planet and most importantly it's the safest ring on the market so after years and years of trying different materials and finally getting a good composite

silicone we sent out hundreds and hundreds of these different friends and family to test these out try them and their work and their life and their play and they're fun whatever they're doing so that we could get data back and

actually make adjustments and I'm happy to say after all of this we finally have the perfect composite dialed in it's just right for being durable staying ultra thin but then when it matters most in those ring a bulge in accidents it'll

actually break away and protect your finger so here's what we need your help with we've been working with the jewelry designer bakkies to get the coolest rings possible design we have two new rings one for men one for women and we

just need your help to get them started we've got all the shipping worked out we've got all the packaging and all we need to do is get this kickstarter-funded so we can get these rings made and just to be clear we're

committed to this for the long haul we want to save as many fingers as possible every ring is guaranteed and don't worry about the size if it doesn't fit we'll send you as many as it takes until we get it right don't let your wedding ring

stand in the way of doing what you love please help us by making a pledge and together we can stop ring avulsion

Allen Beck tells his finger Amputation story due to ring avulsion

my name is Alan Beck I'm 26 years old and I love to play the game of basketball I've been playing it for a number of years first time I could ever slam dunk a basketball would be when I was in eighth grade and I remember just steps worked out right we were just

playing pickup steps working out great went up jumped off my feet went up and was like oh my gosh I can I'm gonna be able to dunk this so I remember throwing it down one-handed and and just coming down and everybody is so like amazed and

stuff everything else it's Raiders you're screaming and jumping hollering it was a blast and just really felt really good to be like one of the first people that I know that could dunk I remember so I was serving my LDS Mormon

mission and it was pee day and it was my 18th month mark and my companion had asked me well basically you've been out 18 months it's kind of an anniversary for you what would you like to do today and I said you know when I connect or go

to church I just wanna you know play games with some other missionaries maybe play some basketball stuff like that cool so we set it all up and it sounds good so you know grab the basketball we were

playing and I just remember it was game point and I had just crossed over one of the missionaries and I had a wide open lane to the hoop and I just went up and I said I'm going to slam this down you

know it's been a while since I've I've slammed this down and basically at this point the reason why I still had the ring on was we'd been playing dodge ball you know who would think you know I don't having playing dodge ball all day

I've been doing this I've been doing that nothing had happened and just I guess pure laziness or whatever may have come over me I just didn't take the ring off to play basketball it was a stainless steel CTR II and as I had this

open lane I remembered everything was normal you know took off when I slammed it something then like right after I put the ball through the hoop something was wrong I knew something was wrong and I came down and I it felt like

the only thing I remember saying was something's wrong something's really really wrong and I just had my hand my left hand over my right hand and basically the series of events that went from okay this happened to having my

finger amputated was you know they lightly they came in the doctor looked at it he's just like you know what we're we're in Cookeville Tennessee we're at a Regional Medical Center there is nothing that we can do for you here like just to

be honest like we're gonna have to airlift you or take you by ambulance to another hospital and he was ended up having to transport me to Berlin or medical facility in Chattanooga Tennessee now

looking back on on things it's like if I could have had at this point anything any other ring other than a stainless steel ring they might have been able to save my finger but because of the fit of the ring was stuck on the middle knuckle

they had to saw the ring off and it took him a very long time to get the ring off before they could transport me they basically put my hand in the stable condition what I would want the viewers to take away from this is if there's an

alternative take it meaning that if you have a tungsten ring if you have a stainless steel ring even if you have a one of those gold rings that must do this to like like my dad that older generation where this there's there's

options out there now and take the time to do some research and find out what's best for you in your situation you know for me in my day to day life the end zone ring is huge that that makes it that's that's a game changer for me it's

not just a sell special that's the honest truth if I would add something like this then maybe my life would a little bit different

Jimmy Fallon Ring Avulsion injuries (VIDEO)

last week top light night talk show host jimmy fallon return to the tonight show

after a potentially catastrophic finger injury kept him hospitalized for nearly two weeks upon his return Fallon told his audience that he had tripped on a rug in his kitchen and called his ring on the countertop sustaining what is known as a ring of ol shin injury Fallon story is unusual as I can't think of anything on a counter that could

cause this this was no minor incident found underwent an emergency six-hour surgery in New York in an effort to save his finger ring avulsion injuries are rare and usually catastrophic as the name implies it typically involves the ring finger and a wedding ring most commonly this injury happens when a person falls while reaching for

something on an overhead shelf catching the ring on the shelf and essentially pulling the finger off as the finger stays with the ring other cases have involved the use of power tools when a person gets the ring call on the tool itself there are three types of ring avulsion injuries classified one two and three type 1 is the is the more minor minor injury where the blood vessels are

adequate in the circulation is is normal standard treatment involves treating the soft tissue or bone injury that second type is when the blood vessels have been injured and these have to be repaired to preserve the finger allowing repair of the other injured areas finally the type 3 is the worst this involves a horrific degloving or the ring pulls off the whole soft tissue envelope of the digit or even amputates

through the tip of the finger revascularisation preserves the digit but there is usually very limited function after this this is actually a type to injury that's likely what Fallon had where the you can see the tip of the digit is still there it's just opened up the soft tissue there's a lack of blood vessels here and circulation to the tip but the bone and the tendons are intact because this injury is not a clean-cut injury

the microscopic blood vessels are usually stretched or torn and cannot be repaired without removing the damaged vessel and bridging the gap this is done with either an artery from adjacent finger present felons case his foot this is actually a microscopic view through the microscope that we are looking at when we repair these blood vessels this is a digital artery in the

finger it measures one millimeter in diameter the arrow is the yellow arrow is a very tip of the lacerated or injured digital artery the repair is with a very fine suture thinner than a human hair Fallon was kept in the ICU post-surgery not because he was sick like the other patients but so that the finger could be closely monitored for circulation

this was merely a safety precaution sort of this so if the circulation stopped he could be taken back to surgery quickly after 10 days in the ICU the circulation is usually well established and he was discharged the key to felons injury and his prognosis is what else was injured during the incident the media has reported that it will be an eight-week recovery a very speedy time frame for this type of injury for this to be accurate

there would have to be no fracture tendon injuries and Jimmy would have to begin rehab right away if in fact there was a tendon injury or fracture he could well be looking at a recovery that may last as much as a year with a blood vessel injury there is frequently a nerve injury and loss of feeling to the digit in some severe cases the finger may need to be amputated later if complications develop we wish Jimmy well as he goes through what is likely to be

a very tough recovery yeah

Finger Avulsion

here is is a description of a simple technique for the management of dermal avulsion injuries. It serves as a compendium and update to my publication from the Journal of emergency medicine earlier this year describing a technique using a combination of limb elevation, a tourniquet and tissue adhesive glue in order to stop these wounds from bleeding.

The first new additional step is to soak the digit in 1% lidocaine with epinephrine prior to beginning the procedure let's hear from a patient what

it feels like Sting's a little too bad not see that this step simultaneously adds vasoconstriction and anesthesia the technique was first described in the academic life and emergency medicine blog the second additional tip is the

use of a just-right finger tourniquet so I find that when you use most commercially available finger tourniquets or if you just take a regular tourniquet and tight around the finger it's kind of an all-or-none

phenomenon it's going to be really tight on the patient's finger they're not going to be able to tolerate it for very long and probably not long enough for the glue to dry in this procedure so here's a trick take a sliver of a

tourniquet cut as shown and a pair of human hemostat or needle drivers place that piece of tourniquet around the finger secure the needle driver around the piece of tourniquet and then just simply crank it up to a level that's

just right by just right I mean enough to get hemostasis but not so much that the patient can't tolerate it as previously described you're going to want to elevate that limb in order to decrease regional blood flow and another

important step is to milk that digit from proximal to distal to completely exsanguinated and decrease the risk of bleeding while the glue is drying which can ruin the procedure a key step before you apply the glue you want to observe

for complete hemostasis of the wound no bleeding at all from that fingertip wound then and only then can you proceed with the next step which to apply layers of tissue adhesive glue over the injury site multiple layers can be used to

ensure adequate coverage and hemostasis as you see that glue forms a thick pool especially in deeper pits of wounds so let me describe a third tip that will help you to combat this problem take a piece of suction tubing

attach it to your compressed air source and create a mini blow dryer which you can basically apply to the wound in order to speed the drying of that glue finally once the glue is dried you can release that tourniquet from the wound

again just by unwinding that needle driver and releasing the tourniquet at this point you should have a completely haemostatic seal over the wound as you see here as with all applications of tissue adhesive glue it'll remain

present for about five days will naturally slough off and you will have created a completely haemostatic wound cover for the initial stages of healing for this and other videos on wound care visit w wa serration repair calm
